Liverpool extended their dominance over Everton in the Merseyside derby with a comfortable 2-0 victory at Goodison Park on Wednesday night.
Goals from Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo condemned the Toffees to their 13th consecutive Premier League home defeat against their bitter rivals.
Everton, who have now failed to score in the last four Merseyside derbies, remain in the relegation zone, while Liverpool moved up to ninth place with the win.
The Reds took the lead in the 36th minute when Salah converted a penalty after being brought down by James Tarkowski.
Gakpo doubled the advantage just six minutes later with a powerful finish from the edge of the area.
Everton improved in the second half, but they were unable to find a way past the Liverpool defence, who kept a clean sheet for the first time in the Premier League this season.
The win was a much-needed boost for Liverpool, who had lost their previous two Premier League games.
For Everton, the defeat was another setback in their battle to avoid relegation.
